My Story
Hi! I am so excited to offer tutoring support for elementary and high-school students!
I live on a farm near Markdale, ON with my husband, my dog, and a herd of cattle. I love working on the farm, learning about agronomy and horticulture, gardening, giving back to my community, and of course, teaching.
I was inspired to offer tutoring services to students in September 2020 with the return to classes after the lockdowns. With all of the extra challenges associated with online learning and ever-changing routines during the 2020-2021 school year, I knew students would truly benefit from an extra resource to get that extra help they need. Since then, I have been able to help over 35 students improve in various combinations of over eight subject areas.
I grew up on a farm outside of Markdale and worked in agronomic research in the processing vegetable industry near London, ON, which inspired me to pursue a career in agriculture research. I am currently working on my Master of Science degree in Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph.
I am passionate about interdisciplinary science, so I attended Western University from 2016-2020 in the inaugural Integrated Science program to earn an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. In April 2020, I graduated with an Honours Specialization in Integrated Science with Chemistry + Minor in Biology, which I absolutely loved studying. While the majority of my classes were in chemistry and biology, I also studied environmental science, earth science, astronomy, and physics.
I attended Macphail Memorial Elementary and Grey Highlands Secondary in Flesherton, where I took all the science and math courses I could and French Immersion. At the end of grade 12, I wrote the Diplome d'Etudes en Langues Francaises (DELF) examination and earned the Niveau B2 certification, which means I am internationally recognized as bilingual. My favourite extra-curricular activities were competing at the Canada-Wide Science Fair annually from grades 7-12, sports, and band.
Beginning in grade 3, I took weekly piano lessons from a fantastic teacher until I graduated from high school. In those nine years, I followed the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum and successfully earned the Grade 9 practical exam certificate, along with the Advanced Music Theory certificate. Currently, I am preparing for the Grade 10 practical exam and the Music History 1 exam.
I hope to help my students study science, math, French, English, and piano in ways that are engaging and beneficial to inspire them to continue to take these courses.
I am so excited, and I am looking forward to hearing from you!
